Growth and marketing strategy for service businesses that want measurable results

Reaching customers is the most common problem small employers report, year after year. Most of them are not short of demand. They are short of a clear position, a system for catching inquiries, and a way to tell what is working.

Who this is for

Service businesses with a good reputation and an inconsistent pipeline. Referrals carry the business in good months; quiet months have no explanation. Marketing so far has been sporadic: a website built once, some ads that may or may not have worked, social posts when someone has time. Nobody can say what a new customer costs to acquire.

What we do

Positioning first. Who you are for, what you are best at, and why someone should choose you over the next listing. Written down in plain language and used everywhere: website, ads, proposals, the way the phone is answered.

Fix the catch before adding the flow. Where inquiries arrive, who sees them, how fast they get a reply, what happens to the ones that do not convert immediately. More traffic into a leaking process is the most expensive thing in marketing. We fix the process first, usually with the tools you already have.

Measurement you can trust. Simple tracking that answers one question: where did this customer come from, and what did it cost? Set up once, reviewed regularly, no vanity dashboards.

Then campaigns. Search ads, local listings, email to past customers, content that answers what your customers search for. We run what the measurement says is working and stop what is not.

What you get

  • A one-page positioning statement and messaging guide
  • A working inquiry process: every lead answered, tracked, and followed up
  • Tracking that shows cost per inquiry and cost per customer by channel
  • Campaigns run and reported in plain language, with a note on what changed and why

How it runs

We start with positioning and a review of every channel you have used, alongside a look at the inquiry process end to end. That produces the positioning statement and a prioritized plan. Then come the foundations: the inquiry process, measurement, and bringing the website and listings in line with the positioning. Campaigns start with one channel and expand or contract based on what the numbers say. Scope and terms are agreed in writing once we have talked; ad spend is always paid directly to the platforms from your own accounts.

What this is not

We do not sell social media posting packages, promise rankings, or run campaigns we cannot measure. We do not mark up ad spend. If your inquiry process is the problem, we will fix that before spending a dollar on traffic, because that is where the return is.

Questions people ask

How long until we see results? It depends on the channel. Process fixes show up soonest, because they affect inquiries you are already getting. Paid campaigns reveal whether they work once there is enough data to judge. Search content, including the kind published in our Journal, is the slowest and compounds over time.

Do you build websites? When the website is the bottleneck, we address it as part of the plan, whether that means fixing what you have or replacing it.

What if we already work with an agency? We can work alongside them, usually on positioning and measurement, and give you an independent read on whether the spend is working.

Most engagements begin with a short, fixed-scope look at how your business runs. Tell us what is going on and we will say honestly whether this is the right fit.
